Franklin QRS requires all members to have a minimum First Responder certification, with EMT the preferred certification. We currently have seven EMTs on our roster who are spread throughout the township. Each QRS "unit" is equipped with nearly every piece of medical eqipment that an ambulance is equipped with, except the stretcher (obviously), backboards, and expensive automated external defibrilators (A.E.D.s) that we wish we could afford. All of this medical "gear" is stored inside of our vehicles. When an emergency call is dispatched for Franklin Township, whether it be a fire, vehicle collision, or medical emergency, QRS is dispatched along with the Fire and/or local ambulance (Lehighton Ambulance is Franklin Township's local ambulance service). With our volunteer EMTs being spread throughout the township, we are usually on scene within 2-5 minutes of the call to 911, depending on who is not at their regular job or away on leisure. With such a small staff of volunteers, it can be difficult to answer each and every emergency, but our emergency call to response ratio is very well above the "mean" for volunteer QRS systems. So now that you understand "QRS in a nutshell" click on the "next" button to meet our dedicated EMTs! |
